Artist and Assemblage Sculptor Marcy Gregory has developed a considerable following of art lovers and collectors of her multi-dimensional sculptures. After relocating from New Jersey to Palm Desert, California Gregory called upon her background in art history and urban planning to carving out a niche for herself in the world of art. From her studio desert studio, she uses scrap wood and recycled cardboard and other materials to create her intimate tabletop sculptures to large scale free-standing and wall sculptures. She creates unique shapes that are brought together in abstract form. From these forms, the interplay of shadows creeping in and out of geometric and architectural like formations reflect movement and breathe life into the overall composition.
Aside from being inspired by such iconic artists as Louise Nevelson, Louise Bourgeois, Noah Purifoy and Arnaldo Pomodoro, Marcy Gregory draws inspiration from her own life story and experiences, that from time to time include social and political references.
